The Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2025, which begins in the UAE on September 9th, is expected to be announced on either August 19th or 20th. Uncertainty surrounds the participation of India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, potentially leading to Test captain Shubman Gill taking over the captaincy. While the team announcement is awaited, players are actively preparing. Sanju Samson is one such player, currently training with the Kerala Police. He posted about his training on social media.

Sanju Samson, a wicketkeeper-batsman, has been out of action since the IPL 2025. He is widely tipped to be included in the Indian team for the Asia Cup 2025. He’s been utilizing this time for rigorous practice with the Kerala Police. Samson shared his training experience through an Instagram story, featuring photos with police personnel and the caption, “Training with Kerala Police… not easy.” Samson’s last international match was in February 2025 against England.

Sanju Samson’s last international match was back in February 2025. He played a T20I against England. In the five-match T20I series against England, Sanju Samson did not perform up to expectations, only scoring 51 runs. However, his overall T20I stats are reasonably good.

He has played 42 matches and has amassed 861 runs in 38 innings at an average of 25.32. This includes 3 centuries and 2 half-centuries. He also has 16 ODI appearances for India, scoring 510 runs in 14 innings, averaging 56.66, with one century and three half-centuries. India is in Group A with Pakistan, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates for the Asia Cup.
