The political arena in Hazaribagh is buzzing with controversy following former MLA Amba Prasad’s strong condemnation of incumbent MLA Roshanlal Choudhary concerning a ₹12 lakh NTPC tender. The tender, allegedly for the Patratu residence of MLA Choudhary, has fueled accusations of favoritism and neglect of public issues. Prasad, speaking at a press briefing, detailed the severe challenges confronting the Barkagaon constituency, including land displacement by mining operations, unemployment, and road safety crises. She accused Choudhary of aligning with mining companies instead of addressing these pressing problems.

Prasad further alleged that Choudhary has been unable to introduce any new development projects in his year-long tenure, merely relabeling existing initiatives. She described this as a deliberate deception that has brought Barkagaon’s development to a standstill. The former MLA also criticized NTPC for its singular focus on coal transportation, asserting that the company is overlooking the fundamental needs of the local population and those displaced by its operations.

Highlighting the stagnation in local development, Prasad stated that Barkagaon has not advanced significantly since her departure from office. She criticized the current MLA for prioritizing corporate interests over constituent welfare and emphasized the ethical obligation of public representatives. Prasad concluded by calling for increased public awareness and the formation of a mass movement to fight for the area’s development, the rights of displaced individuals, and the future prospects of the younger generation.
