During the January 25 edition of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi painted a vivid picture of Indian culture’s global footprint, focusing on the historic and cultural synergies with Malaysia. Addressing listeners from New Delhi, he marveled at how Indian communities worldwide celebrate festivals with unmatched zeal, safeguarding the essence of their traditions.

A key example was Malaysia’s thriving ecosystem of over 500 Tamil schools. Here, students immerse in Tamil not just for language classes but across subjects, paralleled by strong programs in Telugu and Punjabi. This multilingual approach exemplifies the diaspora’s role in cultural preservation.

PM Modi commended the Malaysia India Heritage Society’s tireless efforts to bolster India-Malaysia ties. Through diverse events and immersive heritage walks visiting shared cultural landmarks, the society actively promotes mutual heritage.

The program took a colorful turn as PM Modi described the recent ‘Laal Paad Saree’ iconic walk, honoring Bengal’s cherished saree. Drawing massive crowds, it clinched a spot in the Malaysian Book of Records for maximum participants donning the saree. Performances of Odia folk dance and Baul melodies elevated the event, blending regional flavors into a unified celebration.

Wrapping up, PM Modi’s words in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ highlighted the power of cultural exchange in fostering global unity. These narratives from afar remind us of the enduring spirit of Indian heritage, alive and evolving in distant lands.
