The Indian women’s cricket team has ascended to the pinnacle of the sport, securing their maiden ICC Women’s World Cup title in 2025 with a resounding victory over South Africa in Navi Mumbai. This historic achievement, the culmination of years of dedication and overcoming past final heartbreaks, has ignited national fervor and is poised to catalyze a significant growth phase for women’s cricket in India.

Looking ahead, the team aims to build on this momentum, as captain Harmanpreet Kaur emphasized. “Now our next plan is to make it a habit,” she stated, signalling a new era of sustained success. The squad’s upcoming itinerary is packed with challenging assignments.

Their journey will recommence with a tour of Australia in February 2026. The series, spanning from February 15 to March 9, will comprise three T20 Internationals, three ODIs, and a one-off Test match, testing their skills across all formats.

Post-Australia, the focus will turn to the Women’s Premier League. Immediately after, the team will face England in a three-match T20I series from May 28 to June 2, 2026.

The next major ICC tournament beckons in the form of the T20 World Cup, also hosted by England. Beginning on June 12, 2026, with the grand finale scheduled for July 5 at Lord’s, this tournament represents the immediate big challenge for the newly crowned ODI World Cup champions. India will be looking to prove their dominance across formats by adding the T20 World Cup trophy to their collection.
