Overflowing theaters defined Day 2 of the Guwahati Asian Film Festival (GAFF) 2026 at Jyoti Chitraban, where the second day matched the opener’s fervor. Assam, Manipur, and Vietnam films drew record crowds, signaling the festival’s skyrocketing popularity.

Official reports highlight five screenings that resonated deeply with attendees from every demographic. Over four days, 26 films from across Asia and India take center stage, showcasing narrative diversity and artistic excellence.

Trending Now Media spearheads the event with support from NFDC and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, cementing GAFF’s status as a cultural highlight.

Day 3 spotlights Dr. Pankaj Bora’s poignant Assamese ‘River Tales (Noi Kotha)’, Nehal Ghodke’s evocative Marathi ‘Blossoming Almond’, Shivaranjini’s Malayalam ‘Victoria’, Shivadhvaj Shetty’s Tulu ‘Imbu’, Monet Roy Saha’s Bengali ‘Parobasi (Ethnic Migration)’, alongside ‘Let’s Have a Cup Of’, Brian Hung’s Hong Kong ‘Milk Tea’, Jolgargal Purevdash’s Mongolian ‘If Only I Could Hibernate’, Jungkuk Han’s Korean ‘A Poet of the River’, and Maharshi Tuhin Kashyap’s Assamese ‘Kok Kok Kouk’.

Three key sessions enrich the program: Christopher Dalton’s masterclass on cinematic analysis, and a panel with Utpal Borpujari and Anupama Bose on navigating indie film ecosystems.

The festival wraps on January 25, presenting 26 films from 10 Asian countries. As the sole Asian film fest in India’s Northeast, GAFF fosters enduring cultural connections, elevating regional cinema on a global stage.
