The main roadway portion of the Uttar Pradesh government’s Ganga Expressway project has been finalized. Other elements of the project, encompassing service roads, toll plazas, extensive tree plantations, information boards, street lighting, and the installment of cameras at every kilometer, are either complete or approaching completion. Construction of the service lanes faced a brief interruption due to rainfall, but the work has now restarted.

On Saturday, Prayagraj District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma conducted an inspection of the project, mandating that all aspects of the expressway be completed by November 2, 2025. This 594-kilometer expressway, extending from Meerut to Prayagraj, will enhance transportation between eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. The estimated cost of the project is approximately Rs 36,000 crore, and it will facilitate connectivity across 12 districts.

During his site visit to Judhapur Dandu village in Prayagraj, the starting location of the expressway, DM Verma assessed the physical progress, traffic management strategies, and construction timelines. Construction officials stated that the project has been divided into four groups, with Group 4 covering 15.2 kilometers within the Prayagraj district. The expressway will be constructed with six lanes, with the main structure prepared for expansion to eight lanes in the future.
