Gatka, the ancient martial art, has been recognized in the Pythian Cultural Games, and international competitions will commence next year in Moscow. Bijender Goel, the Chairman of the Pythian Council of India, made this announcement at the 12th National Gatka Championship in New Delhi. Goel expressed backing for the World Gatka Federation, Asian Gatka Federation and National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) to further promote the sport internationally.

Shantanu Agrahari, President of the Pythian Council, discussed the significance of the Pythian Games. Delhi MLA Jarnail Singh highlighted Gatka’s potential for both sport and self-defense, and awarded prizes. Dr. Tejinderpal Singh Nalwa, Harjeet Singh Grewal, and Sukhchain Singh Kalsani underscored Gatka’s inclusion in the Pythian Games as another achievement, following its presence in other national sports events.
