Global Demand Soars for the Suzuki Jimny: Unveiling Its Off-Road Prowess

The Suzuki Jimny commenced its export operations five months post-launch, expanding to markets in Latin America, the Middle East, and receiving positive feedback from Mexico, Australia, and South Africa. The three-door version of the Jimny has been produced for export purposes since 2020 at Suzuki’s Gurgaon plant in Haryana. While the Jimny hasn’t gained much traction in India, it is witnessing high demand in Japan, marketed as the ‘Nomade.’ It was the second SUV to be exported to Japan, after the Suzuki Fronx. Shortly after opening bookings, Suzuki received 50,000 pre-orders and had to temporarily pause them. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) will be utilizing a fleet of Suzuki Jimnys, deploying them in extreme conditions along the borders of Arunachal Pradesh and Leh Ladakh. The Jimny is designed to operate in environments with temperatures dropping to -45 degrees. Its ability to use low-range and high-ratio gearboxes allows the vehicle to effectively navigate harsh terrains. The Jimny is fitted with a 4×4 powertrain system that incorporates an AllGrip 4WD system, along with 2WD-high, 4WD High, and 4WD low capabilities. It features a three-link rigid axle suspension. It is powered by a 1.5-liter engine that provides 105 BHP and a peak torque of 134Nm. Starting at Rs 12.76 lakh and going up to Rs 14.97 lakh, the Jimny’s light frame and compact size contribute to its superior off-road capabilities.
