In a major boost for India’s tech ambitions, Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the India AI Impact Summit 2026 has garnered massive international acclaim, on track to be the biggest AI gathering ever. Set for February 16-20 at Bharat Mandapam, this pioneering Global South-hosted summit promises transformative discussions.
Vaishnaw shared that industry giants have ready 200+ specialized AI models for sector-specific launches during the event. With $70 billion already poured into AI infrastructure, investments are expected to surge twofold by the end. A key initiative involves scaling AI infrastructure and certified curricula to 500 universities, ensuring a steady supply of skilled professionals.
He pointed to Prime Minister Modi’s interactions with AI value chain players as evidence of India’s methodical ecosystem buildup and emphasis on actionable AI solutions.
Secretary S. Krishnan outlined the summit’s aim to democratize AI, extending its advantages beyond elites to everyday citizens. It will champion aligned approaches to AI governance and standards, fostering shared global commitments to safe, real-world AI applications.
The program includes 500+ events at Bharat Mandapam and Sushma Swaraj Bhawan—think high-level talks, interactive exhibits, and productive sessions. Over 840 exhibitors will light up the AI Impact Expo, featuring pavilions from countries, ministries, states, businesses, startups, and research hubs.
