Google’s Gemini app now features Nano Banana, a new model for image generation and editing, quickly making waves in photo editing. This tool allows users to generate images and edit them with professional-grade results. Google has offered four key tips on how to make the most of the Nano Banana.

Google’s Product Lead, Nicole Brichtova, described the model as a ‘giant quality leap’ in photo editing. It allows everyday users to accomplish edits that previously required specialized tools, encouraging a surge in creativity.

A key strength of Nano Banana is its ability to maintain consistency. The model ensures that the subject’s identity remains unchanged, even when editing clothing, poses, or backgrounds. This functionality is beneficial for creating photo series and character studies.

Nano Banana enables precise editing. Users can make specific changes to a scene, such as adjusting an object’s color or shape or removing items, without altering the entire image.

The tool employs a simple prompt system. Users can transform images using easy-to-understand language. Users can convert old black and white photos to color, turn sketches into real photos, and create new images by combining several photos.

Beyond editing, Nano Banana supports the development of image-based applications. Google has integrated Canvas and AI Studio to provide developers with tools to build apps. A use case is the PictureMe app, which allows users to see themselves in different styles like ’80s fashion or professional headshots.
