The central government gave an affidavit in the Madhya Pradesh High Court

    Highlights

Central government employees can now participate in RSS activities. Participation in RSS activities was banned since 1966. Orders passed in 1966, 1975 and 1980 have been amended.

Naiduniya Representative, Indore: The Central Government has given an affidavit before the Indore Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court saying that the Center has no objection to the involvement of Central employees in the activities of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). They have amended the decades-old order regarding the involvement of Central employees in the activities of RSS.

The central government filed an affidavit in the High Court

The Central Government has submitted this affidavit in the petition which challenged the ban on Central Government employees from participating in the activities of RSS. The petition states that RSS is a non-political organization and the petitioner has the right to participate in its activities like other organizations. Taking the affidavit of the Central Government on record, the court has reserved the order.

    Petition to join RSS

Let us tell you that this petition has been filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court by retired Central Government officer Purushottam Gupta through advocate Manish Nair. It has been said that influenced by the social, cultural and religious activities carried out by the RSS, the petitioner wants to join the RSS as an active member. He wants to be a part of its activities.

Even retired workers could not participate

Since 1966, the Central Government has banned the participation of central employees in the activities of RSS by considering its activities as political activities. This affects even retired employees. Disciplinary action is proposed against employees who participate in the activities of the Sangh. This is a violation of the fundamental rights of the petitioner.

    Amendment of the 1966 order

During the hearing of this petition, advocate Himanshu Joshi on behalf of the Central Government told the court that the Centre has amended the orders passed in 1966, 1975 and 1980 and has removed the name of RSS from them. An affidavit has also been given by the Centre in this regard. The division bench of the High Court has reserved the order after taking the affidavit of the Central Government on record.
