The Bihar government has introduced a special scheme to assist farmers in cultivating marigold flowers, aiming to increase their profitability. The Agriculture Department of Bihar has opened online applications for the Marigold Development Scheme, which is intended to help farmers earn more in a shorter period through marigold farming.

The scheme offers benefits for a minimum of 0.1 hectares and a maximum of 2 hectares of land per farmer. The cost of cultivation is set at ₹80,000 per hectare, with the government providing a 50 percent subsidy. Land ownership is required for participation in the marigold cultivation initiative.

Farmers must have an LPC and updated land receipts to be eligible for the scheme. Those who do not own land can apply by submitting an agreement. Applicants whose names are not clearly visible on land ownership or revenue receipts must include a family tree along with the documents.

Additionally, farmers involved in marigold cultivation are eligible for the freight vehicle scheme. This scheme provides a subsidy for the purchase of freight vehicles to transport their marigold produce to the market. The approximate cost of a freight vehicle is ₹6,50,000, with a subsidy of 50 percent, amounting to ₹3,25,000, or 50 percent of the vehicle’s actual price, whichever is lower.

To apply for the scheme, applicants must upload a quotation for the vehicle, land documents, and an agreement concerning marigold cultivation. For additional details, farmers can reach out to the Agriculture Department’s Kisan Call Center or visit their local agricultural office.
