Government of Chhattisgarh to Provide State Honors and Financial Aid to Democracy Fighters

In Chhattisgarh, democracy fighters will now be honored with state honors at their final rites, as announced by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. Their families will also be given financial aid of ₹25,000. This was revealed during the Emergency Remembrance Day program held at the CM House. Cabinet ministers, MLAs, and MPs were present at the event, which included the honoring of democracy fighters. Chief Minister Sai criticized the previous Congress government, pointing out that the schemes for democracy fighters were stopped. He also noted that these fighters did not receive their financial assistance for the last five years. The current government will ensure that the outstanding dues are cleared. The Chief Minister termed the Emergency as a dark chapter in India’s democratic history, which every generation must be aware of. He shared that his family was affected, with his grand uncle imprisoned for 19 months, and observed how many families suffered due to the arrest of their earning members. He stated that it is the government’s moral obligation to care for the democracy fighters and reiterated the government’s dedication to protecting their respect and rights. This initiative is considered a genuine tribute to the honor and contributions of those who fought to uphold democracy.
