At a cancer summit held in Ranchi, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar stated that the fight against cancer necessitates compassion and a shared sense of responsibility, alongside medical care. He noted that cancer is a complex illness that deeply affects not only the physical health of the individual but also the mental, social, and emotional well-being of their entire family. He stressed the importance of human empathy, trust, and care in addition to medical treatments. Governor Gangwar pointed out that timely detection and effective treatment are crucial, particularly in Jharkhand. He praised the ‘Ayushman Bharat’ scheme as a major step forward by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide free quality treatment to the poor and underprivileged. He stressed that the initiative’s success depends on collaboration among doctors, hospitals, state governments, and the wider community. He described medical professionals as ‘givers of life’ and encouraged them to put service, compassion, and dedication at the core of their practice, which can bring hope to the lives of every cancer patient. He expressed his hope that the summit will lead to an improved cancer treatment and public awareness in Jharkhand.
