Grand Opening of Deoghar Shravani Mela in Jharkhand with Vedic Rituals

The globally renowned Deoghar Shravani Mela in Jharkhand officially began with a vibrant opening ceremony filled with Vedic chants. Tourism Minister Sudivya Kumar, Labour Minister Sanjay Yadav, and Panchayati Raj Minister Deepika Pandey Singh jointly inaugurated the mela. The inauguration commenced with the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon. Before the formal opening, the ministers and district officials participated in a religious ceremony led by the temple priests, reciting Vedic mantras. Tourism Minister Sudivya Kumar and Labour Minister Sanjay Yadav joined the devotees, chanting ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ and ‘Bol Bam’ as they entered through the Dumma gate. Addressing the audience, Minister Sudivya Kumar highlighted the special measures taken for this year’s mela, including the application of artificial intelligence to help pilgrims. He noted that this mela attracts visitors from all over the world. He also stressed that the success of such a large event depends on the local community and its people, so he appealed to the residents of Deoghar to maintain a good rapport with the visitors. Minister Kumar further disclosed plans for the upcoming Sawan season, including discussions with officials for the construction of two flyovers in Deoghar. He also mentioned that the Chief Minister was unable to attend the inauguration due to a meeting led by the Union Home Minister. Panchayati Raj Minister Deepika Pandey Singh praised the district administration’s arrangements for the Shravani Mela, acknowledging its stature as a major event in Jharkhand. She also highlighted the state government’s commitment to creating a positive impression of Jharkhand for visitors from around the world. Labour Minister Sanjay Yadav emphasized the benefits of the mela extending beyond Deoghar, positively impacting the entire Santhal region. He stated that the people of the region eagerly await this annual event. He urged the local community to demonstrate their culture and ensure the mela’s success. The event was attended by several prominent figures, including local MLAs and district officials. The Shravani Mela, which begins on July 11th, will allow devotees to directly reach the Baba Dham temple in Deoghar after a 110-kilometer walk from Sultanganj, entering through the Dumma gate.
