A daring police operation near Ahmedabad airport has dismantled a baby trafficking conspiracy, saving a day-old infant and leading to three arrests. The DCB team, tipped off by Gujarat ATS, unraveled links to a multi-state syndicate operating from Gujarat to Uttar Pradesh and Telangana.

On January 28, vital info from ATS galvanized the DCB into action. PSI J.C. Desai’s squad—featuring AHC Kanubhai Bhupatbhai, APCs Velaji Hemaji and Sureshbhai Laljibhai, plus WPC Kashmiraben—positioned strategically by Kotarpur Pumping Station.

The target: a white Ertiga (GJ-01-MT-2600) speeding from Himmatnagar. A routine stop uncovered the newborn, triggering arrests of prime accused Vandana Panchal, Roshan Agrawal alias Sajjan, and Sumit Yadav. The driver’s role is under the microscope.

Custodial probe yielded confessions: the baby was acquired for Rs 3.60 lakh from Munnu near Himmatnagar, destined for Hyderabad buyer Nagaraj. Seized items included Rs 10,050 cash, four mobiles (Rs 55K value), and the car.

FIR registered under BNS 143(4), 137(2), 61(2)(A) and Juvenile Justice Act 81, 87. The child received urgent care from welfare experts.

This bust signals a larger threat, with police hot on the trail of elusive intermediaries. Child trafficking remains a scourge, but operations like this instill hope, demonstrating unwavering commitment to child protection.

As the investigation expands, it calls for heightened public awareness and stricter border vigilance to eradicate such evils.
