Popular singer Guru Randhawa, who has delivered hits like ‘Lahore’ and ‘Suit Suit,’ is currently facing criticism over his recent track ‘Azul.’ The music video has stirred controversy due to its depiction of Randhawa as a photography teacher with an apparent interest in a schoolgirl, raising concerns about the sexualization of minors and the normalization of inappropriate relationships.

Amid the growing controversy, Guru Randhawa responded with a cryptic post on Instagram. He shared the performance statistics for ‘Azul,’ showcasing over 107,200 views within an hour and 27,000 YouTube searches, and captioned it: “Azul is Azuling . When God is with you, you only move forward.” This response seemed to indirectly address the criticism while highlighting the song’s popularity. He has also disabled comments on the video’s Instagram post.

The primary criticism of ‘Azul’ centers on its perceived sexualization of schoolgirls. The video shows Randhawa playing a photographer taking class photos, which critics claim objectifies minors and promotes harassment. Additionally, the lyrics compare a woman’s attractiveness to alcohol, leading to further objections.

Adding to the singer’s problems, ‘Sirra’ has also come under fire, with accusations of defaming the Jatt community. A local court has summoned Guru Randhawa for September 2 following a complaint about the controversial lyrics. The complaint, filed by Rajdeep Singh Mann, objects to the lyric that references opium. Mann contends the lyrics promote drug culture, naming Apple Music, YouTube, and other streaming platforms in the complaint.
