Hamas-Affiliated Hackers Target North American Airports

A wave of cyberattacks on Tuesday impacted four airports in Canada and the United States, broadcasting politically charged messages with pro-Hamas themes. Kelowna, Victoria, and Windsor International Airports in Canada, along with Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania, had their public announcement and display systems compromised. Slogans such as “Israel lost the war, Hamas won the war honorably” and explicit anti-Trump and anti-Netanyahu sentiments were disseminated. Reports from Harrisburg described a loudspeaker announcement that included “F*ck Trump” and calls for a “Free Palestine,” with the hackers identifying themselves as “Turkish hacker Cyber Islam.” Airport officials reassured the public that critical flight operations and control systems remained secure, emphasizing the breach exploited vulnerabilities in external, third-party software. Law enforcement and national security bodies in both nations are actively investigating this coordinated digital assault.
