The Asia Cup 2025 is generating excitement, especially for the India-Pakistan match scheduled for September 14th. However, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has shared his strong views on the matter and appealed to the BCCI. Singh believes that national interests must take precedence over the game.

In an interview with The Times of India, Harbhajan Singh shared his belief that the sacrifices of soldiers on the border and the hardships faced by their families are of greater importance than a cricket match. He echoed the government’s perspective that ‘blood and water cannot mix,’ indicating that cricket should not be played during times of conflict between the two nations.

Singh further asserted that cricket is a minor concern until the larger issues are addressed. He emphasized that national identity should be prioritized above all else. He mentioned that the country comes first for players, actors, and everyone else. He highlighted the unwavering bravery of the soldiers protecting the nation and the challenges faced by their families. This stance echoes the decision by the India Champions team to refuse to compete against the Pakistan Champions in the World Championship of Legends 2025 after a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir. This refusal serves to underscore his core argument.

Singh’s perspective reflects a common sentiment among many concerning the Asia Cup 2025, with many emphasizing the need to prioritize the nation’s welfare and security above the game of cricket.
