Hardoi/Gonda: A case has come to light in the police department which has put the dignity of policing to shame. This incident pertains to a constable who took a loan from a bank to meet his personal needs and then did not hesitate to ask a woman police personnel to lend money to repay this loan. However, when the woman constable asked for the money lent to him back, the constable not only refused to return the money but also threatened to morph her photo and make it viral. This case is from Gonda district, where the female constable lodged a complaint with the Superintendent of Police and now the accused constable has been arrested.
Constable refused to return the borrowed amount
This case is related to Adampur village of Umri Begumganj police station area of Gonda district. Vinay Kumar, a resident of this place and a constable posted at Kasimpur police station in Hardoi district, had taken a loan from the bank. He needed money to repay this loan, after which he asked for a loan from a female police officer he knew. The lady constable, who was posted in the Superintendent of Police office, lent the money to Vinay Kumar as she was known to him.
When Vinay was asked to return the borrowed amount, he not only became reluctant to return the money but also threatened the female constable that if she asked for the borrowed amount back, he would make her edited picture viral. After this threat, the female constable lodged a complaint with Superintendent of Police SP Neeraj Kumar Jadaun, after which investigation into the entire matter was started.
Investigation revealed, other women police personnel were also threatened
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the Superintendent of Police got the matter investigated by CO Shilpa Kumari. The investigation revealed the shocking fact that not only the woman constable, but Vinay Kumar had also tried to extort money by threatening four other women police personnel in a similar manner. Edited photographs of all the women police personnel were made and they were threatened that these photographs would be made viral on social media if they did not pay the money.
Seeing this, there was a stir in the police department. The SP immediately got the matter thoroughly investigated and registered a case against the accused constable in the cyber police station.

Finally, late on Friday night the police arrested Vinay Kumar. CO City Ankit Mishra confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused constable under cyber crime. The police department also suspended the accused constable against Vinay Kumar. This action of Gonda Police is considered important because this incident was going to challenge the credibility of the police force.

This case also highlights the increasing cases of cyber crime, where common people and now even police officers are becoming victims of it. Tampering with photos and misusing someone’s personal information to threaten them through social media has become a serious crime.
