The South Indian film industry is in mourning following the death of veteran actor Harish Rai, who passed away after a lengthy battle with thyroid cancer. Rai, 55, was best known for his commanding presence in films like ‘Om’ and his significant role as Khasim in Yash’s globally successful ‘KGF’ saga. He had been undergoing treatment for his condition for over a year before his passing in Bengaluru.

Rai’s career was marked by diverse roles across Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu cinema, showcasing his talent and dedication. His performance in the ‘KGF’ films particularly resonated with audiences worldwide, solidifying his fame. The actor was forthright about his health journey, including the decision to grow a beard to conceal swelling related to his cancer. He also openly addressed the substantial financial demands of his treatment, noting the high cost of specific medical therapies.

Throughout his ordeal, Rai exhibited resilience and grace. He spoke of past assistance from ‘KGF’ co-star Yash, while also clarifying that he hadn’t sought help for this particular instance, respecting Yash’s busy schedule. Rai’s extensive filmography includes ‘Samara’, ‘Bangalore Underworld’, ‘Jodihakki’, and ‘Sanju Weds Geetha’, among many others. His contributions have left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
