Shubman Gill has been selected to lead the team. Rana, who debuted in international cricket during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia, was part of the A-Squad and played in a recent warm-up fixture with the Indian Team.
Rana will not be returning to India with the rest of the India A squad. It’s unclear whether he has been formally added to the Gill-led squad or is on standby. This strategic decision may reflect the need for backup options, similar to the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where backup bowlers played a key role in India’s series win.
