Haryana’s Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, has initiated a series of measures to enhance flood preparedness in anticipation of the monsoon season. These actions include instructing officials to assess and improve drainage systems across the state, particularly in vulnerable areas. The government is focused on gathering data on pump sets and ensuring drains are thoroughly cleaned, specifically in regions such as Gurugram, Faridabad, Ambala, and Kurukshetra. This move comes as North India faces severe weather, with substantial damage and fatalities reported in Himachal Pradesh and widespread waterlogging. The Chief Minister’s review of preparations with district officials highlighted the importance of proactive measures. The state also aims to address water drainage complaints swiftly. The Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast of ongoing heavy rain underscores the need for these preparations.
