In a concerning development for cricket enthusiasts, Yuzvendra Chahal has been sidelined due to a bout of dengue and chikungunya. The veteran leg-spinner disclosed on Thursday, December 18th, that he has been unable to play since late November as he focuses on recovering from the dual infection. This health issue meant he missed the crucial Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final, much to the disappointment of his team, Haryana. Chahal extended his support to his team remotely, explaining that his current health condition, a result of dengue and chikungunya, has significantly impacted him. He is currently under medical care, emphasizing the need for rest and recovery, but is optimistic about a return to bowling soon. A firm return date has not been specified, but Chahal is targeting a comeback in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, scheduled to begin on December 24th. Despite not being part of the Indian squad since the T20 World Cup, Chahal proved his mettle in England’s county cricket circuit this year, delivering strong performances for Northamptonshire. His consistent form and extensive experience have led Punjab Kings to retain him for the next IPL season, ensuring his presence in the franchise league.
