Madhya Pradesh is stepping up its war on cancer with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launching a comprehensive HPV vaccination campaign targeting 8 lakh adolescent girls aged 14-15. Unveiled on Saturday, the program offers free shots—valued at ₹4,000 each—for three months at select health centers, backed by 7.58 lakh central government doses.
The national rollout, initiated by PM Modi in Ajmer, found strong echo in MP. From New Delhi via video link, Yadav stressed women’s health as a priority, positioning the vaccine as a shield against cervical cancer, a major killer second only to breast cancer. With 156 cases per lakh women, he appealed to guardians: ‘Act now, vaccinate your daughters.’
Bhopal’s Dr. Kailash Nath Katju Hospital hosted the local launch by Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla. He detailed the vaccine’s superiority in prevention, vowing to eradicate cervical cancer statewide. Calls for support from healthcare workers, leaders, and the public rang loud.
Complementing this are innovative health thrusts: Mission Madhuhari for Type-1 diabetes clinics in districts, offering weekly insulin and expert aid. Active campaigns include Nirogi Kaya Abhiyan for fitness, Sickle Cell elimination, women-family health drives, and liver wellness missions.
Enhancements in healthcare delivery feature hub-spoke networks, expanded 85-test labs, telemedicine reaching villages, and medical college proposals for each Lok Sabha area. Yadav noted that awareness and early detection drive enduring public health gains. Teams are optimistic about hitting all milestones promptly, heralding a new era of preventive care in the state.
