Maharashtra Police have dealt another blow to medical malpractice by detaining an individual who claimed to be a licensed doctor despite having no formal degree. The Thursday raid in Daund’s Yavat jurisdiction uncovered a fully stocked clinic operating without any government approvals, putting dozens of patients at risk.

The 35-year-old accused, originally from Hurda tehsil in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, had been running the practice for several months. During the search, authorities seized a wide range of allopathic drugs, 85,100 rupees in loose cash, and an assortment of syringes and vials whose contents are now under forensic examination.

A Honda City found parked outside the premises contained additional cartons of medicines, suggesting the suspect may have been supplying smaller outlets in neighboring villages. Charges have been filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cheating and under the Medical Practice Act for practising without registration.

Local health officials stress that the incident underscores the urgent need for better verification mechanisms when clinics open in remote areas. They are urging residents to check registration numbers before seeking treatment.

The Yavat police station is continuing its probe to trace any previous locations where the accused might have operated and to identify potential victims who could require medical follow-up.
