Stormy rains force ambulance team to perform on‑site delivery in Jamnagar

Heavy rainstorms turned the lanes of Kotda Bawisi village into a swamp, blocking the 108 ambulance from reaching a labouring resident. After receiving an emergency call, EMT Hasmukh Sagathia and driver Komlesh Kantaria arrived on foot.

The medical team assessed that transporting the expectant mother to the nearest health centre would take too long and might cause complications. They quickly prepared an improvised delivery setup, ensuring sterility and monitoring vital signs.

The infant was born healthy, and the mother showed no signs of distress. With the help of nearby villagers, both were carried on a bedsheet to the ambulance, which then navigated the muddy path to the Jamjodhpur sub‑district hospital for post‑natal care.

Officials reiterated that Gujarat's 108 ambulance network operates without charge and is intended for exactly such critical, time‑sensitive situations in remote areas.
