Odisha is bracing for a period of heavy to very heavy rain, with thunderstorms expected to continue for the next five days. The existing low-pressure area over north Odisha and adjoining areas has become less prominent. The IMD anticipates a new upper-air cyclonic circulation developing over the north Bay of Bengal, near coastal Bangladesh and West Bengal, around June 29. This system is expected to spawn another low-pressure area within a day, leading to an increase in rainfall from June 30. The weather agency has issued yellow warnings for districts like Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, and Mayurbhanj, indicating potential heavy rainfall. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are anticipated in several other districts. Additionally, orange and yellow warnings have been issued for multiple districts, reflecting the likelihood of varied intensities of very heavy rainfall in the coming period.
