Ranchi. A dispute has arisen between the Central and Jharkhand governments over the amount of Rs 1 lakh 36 thousand crores. Jharkhand government claims that this amount is outstanding with the Center in lieu of royalty for coal mining in the state and land acquisition for mines. But, in response to a question asked in this regard in the Parliament, the Central Government said that Jharkhand does not have any dues with it. Jharkhand government has expressed protest against this stand of the Centre. Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren wrote on social media platform X on Tuesday that Jharkhand’s demand is justified. This amount is necessary for the development of the state. He has appealed to the BJP MPs of Jharkhand to raise their voice on this demand of Jharkhand. The ruling coalition of Jharkhand had also raised the issue of outstanding amount of Rs 1 lakh 36 thousand crore with the Center prominently during the assembly elections. CM Soren kept saying repeatedly in his meetings that the Center has withheld Jharkhand’s money, due to which development plans in the state are being affected. Two days ago, Bihar’s independent MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav asked a question in the Lok Sabha regarding the fact that Jharkhand’s share of Rs 1.40 lakh crore in the tax earned as revenue from coal is pending with the Central Government.
He is not being transferred. What is the reason for this? On this question, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chowdhary said in a written reply that Jharkhand’s share of coal revenue is not pending with the Central Government. After this reply of the Centre, it is considered certain to create political uproar in Jharkhand. CM Hemant Soren, who is currently on a personal tour of other states, has given his first reaction on social media. CM Soren had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this issue in September this year. In this he had said that the socio-economic development of Jharkhand state mainly depends on the revenue from mining and minerals, out of which 80 percent comes from coal mining. Coal companies operating in Jharkhand owe the state government about Rs 1,36,042 crore till March 2022. In the letter sent to the PM, the breakup of the claims of outstanding amount on the coal companies was also given.

According to this, Rs 2,900 crore is outstanding as royalty on washed coal, Rs 32,000 crore for violation of environmental clearance limits, Rs 41,142 crore as compensation for land acquisition and Rs 60,000 crore is outstanding as interest amount on it. CM Soren had said in the letter sent to the PM that when the power companies of Jharkhand delayed the payment of dues of the central undertaking DVC (Damodar Valley Corporation), we were charged 12 percent interest and the money was deposited directly from our account to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Reserve Bank of India) was debited. He said that if we add simple interest at the rate of 4.5 per cent on the amount owed to coal companies, the state should get Rs 510 crore per month only as interest. He has said that due to non-payment of this dues, the state of Jharkhand is suffering irreparable loss. Various social schemes like education, health, women and child development, clean drinking water and last mile connectivity are facing difficulty in implementing due to lack of funds.
