A major job scam involving crores of rupees has been exposed in Ranchi, Jharkhand, with the arrest of a father-son duo who allegedly defrauded numerous individuals by promising them assistant positions in the High Court. The accused, residing in Tharpakhna, within the jurisdiction of the Lower Bazaar police station, exploited their supposed influence and connections with prominent officials to deceive youths with the prospect of government employment, thus swindling them out of over a crore rupees.

The police investigation reveals that the accused, identified as Rajkumar and his son Paramit Raj, had been preying on unsuspecting youths for quite some time, falsely claiming they could secure assistant positions in the High Court due to their contacts. They used this deception to extract significant amounts of money from more than half a dozen individuals. Initially, the father-son duo offered various assurances to the victims, but no jobs ever materialized. When the defrauded youths demanded a refund, the pair went into hiding.

The victims were compelled to file a written complaint at the local police station. During their investigation, the police discovered that the accused had secretly returned to Ranchi and were hiding in their home. The victims quickly alerted the police, who then surrounded the property. The Lower Bazaar police arrested the suspects and placed them in judicial custody. The police are actively pursuing a third suspect in connection with the scam.

Police authorities confirmed that the accused had defrauded many individuals, not just a select few, collecting large sums of money under the false pretext of providing employment. The total amount of the fraud is estimated to exceed one crore rupees. This is not the first such incident in Ranchi where individuals have been duped with the promise of jobs and claims of high-level connections. Earlier this year, a woman named Usha Barla was arrested from the Bariatu area for impersonating a doctor from RIMS and defrauding many individuals of lakhs of rupees. She offered jobs, flats, and other government benefits in return for money.

Usha Barla faced multiple cases across police stations including Nagri, Bariatu, Dhurwa, and Namkum. After a diligent investigation and leveraging technical resources, the police arrested her in June. Ranchi police advise the public to be vigilant and to immediately report any instances where money is demanded in exchange for a job or other benefits.
