As part of ongoing diplomatic efforts, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is scheduled to visit India for two days, starting Monday, August 18th. The visit includes a significant bilateral meeting with India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. These talks are intended to stabilize relations between the two nations, given the recent disagreements. The visit also comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to China, and is seen as an attempt to improve ties. The agenda involves border discussions, trade, and air service restoration. Wang Yi will participate in the Special Representative Dialogue on the border dispute. A meeting with Prime Minister Modi will also take place, timed ahead of Modi’s visit to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in China. The visit takes place against a backdrop of shifts in the India-US relationship, including trade matters.
