Himachal Pradesh has witnessed a tragic rise in the death toll, reaching 80, according to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA). The report specifies that 52 fatalities are directly linked to rain-induced events, encompassing landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts. Road accidents and other incidents account for the remaining 28 deaths. Mandi district has experienced the highest number of rain-related deaths, totaling 17, with Kangra reporting 11. The data, compiled up to July 7, includes details of deaths from electrocution, snake bites, and falls from elevated terrains. Besides the loss of life, the state has reported 128 injuries, extensive damage to homes, and significant damage to both livestock and public infrastructure. The monsoon season has brought widespread devastation, marked by numerous flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides across several districts. Relief camps are established, and rescue teams are actively involved in operations. Residents are cautioned to take necessary precautions and avoid areas prone to hazards.
