Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah commended the efforts of officials involved in anti-Naxal operations during a gathering in New Delhi. He acknowledged the success of these operations and reiterated the Modi government’s goal of eliminating Naxalism. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were in attendance.

On a social media platform, Shah expressed his desire to meet with the soldiers who made these operations successful, indicating a future visit to Chhattisgarh. He also referenced the anti-Maoist operations led by security forces in Chhattisgarh. A significant operation, conducted from May 18-21, 2025, by the Chhattisgarh Police, including DRG forces from multiple districts, resulted in an encounter in the Boter forests on May 21, 2025. This led to the death of 27 Naxals, including Basavaraju (Gaganna), the CPI (Maoist) leader, and the confiscation of a large amount of weapons and ammunition.

Several key officers were honored by Amit Shah, including Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police Vivekananda, Inspector General of Police Sundarraj, and Superintendents of Police Prabhat Kumar, Jitendra Yadav, and Shalabh Singh. Also present were Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, and other senior officials.
