Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with officials in New Delhi to celebrate the success of anti-Naxal operations, underlining the Modi government’s commitment to eliminating the threat of Naxalism. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were also present.

In a post on X, Shah acknowledged the officers’ contributions and expressed his intent to meet the soldiers who contributed to the success, planning a visit to Chhattisgarh. These anti-Maoist operations, carried out under the Home Minister’s guidance, involved security forces in Chhattisgarh, including operations in the Abujhmad area. A major operation by the Chhattisgarh Police, with DRG units from various districts, took place from May 18 to May 21, 2025. A significant encounter on May 21, 2025, in the Boter village forests resulted in the death of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) leader Basavaraju alias Gagganna, and the recovery of substantial weapons.

Among those honored by Amit Shah were Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police Sundarraj, and Superintendents of Police Prabhat Kumar, Jitendra Yadav, and Shalabh Singh. Senior officials such as Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka attended the event.
