Honda Cars India Limited has reached a significant landmark by exporting 200,000 cars, showcasing the strength of the company and the success of the Make-in-India program. This accomplishment is a testament to the Indian automotive industry’s capabilities and Honda’s commitment to delivering quality products worldwide. The company’s export journey commenced with SAARC nations like Nepal and Bhutan. By 2021, Honda had exported the first 50,000 units to SAARC, South Africa, and SADC countries. The export volume then rapidly increased, with the subsequent 50,000 units reaching the Middle East, Mexico, and Turkey, within two and a half years. The introduction of the Honda Elevate, known as the WR-V in Japan, was pivotal in driving further export growth. The Elevate enabled Honda to export an additional 100,000 units in just two years. The Honda City and Honda Elevate have been the primary drivers of export volumes, contributing around 78% of the total exports. Other models such as the Brio, Amaze, Jazz, BR-V, Mobilio, City e:HEV, Accord, and CR-V make up the remaining portion. Honda’s Made-in-India vehicles are now available in 33 countries globally. Japan is the largest market, accounting for roughly 30% of the total exports. South Africa and SADC nations represent 26%, Mexico 19%, and Turkey 16%. The remaining 9% are distributed among the Middle East, SAARC countries, South America, and the Caribbean.
