Ajinkya Naik, the President of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), shared a previously unknown detail about Yashasvi Jaiswal. Naik revealed that Rohit Sharma played a crucial part in persuading Yashasvi Jaiswal to remain with Mumbai and not switch to Goa in the domestic cricket setup. It was previously reported that Jaiswal wanted to leave Mumbai and had applied for a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

However, Jaiswal eventually opted to stay in Mumbai. Naik discussed the factors that led to this decision. Sharma urged Jaiswal to recognize the pride of playing for Mumbai, a team with a long history and 42 Ranji Trophy victories. Sharma reminded him of the platform Mumbai provided to showcase his talent and eventually play for India. The president also mentioned that Jaiswal started his cricketing journey in Mumbai’s maidans, and that is where he was selected for all age group teams.

Following conversations with Sharma and other experienced players, Jaiswal withdrew his NOC application. The MCA subsequently approved this. Jaiswal recently concluded a five-match Test series against England, where he scored 411 runs with an average of 41.10, which included two centuries.
