The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is officially down to its final 20 teams. Co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the tournament will feature an expanded field. The last three qualification spots were filled this week, with Nepal, Oman, and the UAE emerging victorious from the Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifier pathway.
This marks Nepal’s third T20 World Cup appearance and second in succession. Oman will be participating for the fourth time, while the UAE makes its third appearance, and first since the 2022 tournament.
European cricket will be represented by Italy, who are set to make their debut appearance after qualifying through the European Qualifier, alongside the Netherlands. India, the current champions after their victory in the 2024 final, will be a formidable force, aiming to secure another title. They are part of an elite group of multi-time T20 World Cup winners, which also includes England and the West Indies.
Fans can expect a format similar to the 2024 event. The 20 teams will be organized into four groups of five. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eights. This phase will then see two groups of four, with the top two from each advancing to the semi-finals, leading to the championship match.
The 20 nations confirmed for the 2026 T20 World Cup are: India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, USA, West Indies, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, Canada, Italy, Netherlands, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Oman, and UAE.
