Ranchi’s Police Line on Kanke Road hosted the inauguration of the three-day South Chotanagpur Regional Police Sports Competition on Friday. The event was formally launched by Ranchi Zone Inspector General (IG) Manoj Kaushik, who was joined by Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan and the Police Superintendents of Simdega and Khunti in a symbolic balloon release. In his address, IG Manoj Kaushik underscored the profound impact of sports on boosting physical fitness and mental acuity, while also stressing their effectiveness in reducing stress. He acknowledged stress as an inherent challenge for law enforcement officers and proposed that consistent engagement in sports is the most effective strategy for maintaining the fitness required to overcome it. Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan commented that sports are an indispensable part of the police officer’s routine, fostering physical robustness. He also pointed out that a high level of fitness among police personnel is paramount for the department’s optimal performance, underscoring the significant value of sports. The competition agenda includes more than a dozen sports, such as volleyball, basketball, football, handball, hockey, kabaddi, karate, and running races. Top athletes will receive the opportunity to compete at the national games. Teams representing Ranchi, Lohardaga, Simdega, Khunti, and Gumla districts are participating, set to showcase their athletic prowess throughout the three-day event. The inauguration was attended by a notable gathering of police officials.
