The monsoon is currently causing widespread disruption in North India. Heavy rainfall over the last few days has led to serious waterlogging, flash floods, and landslides in various regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for heavy rain in several cities, including Delhi-NCR, due to persistent and intense rainfall.

Officials have alerted the public in Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region to potential hazards, as nearby barrages continue to release excess water. The Vasudev Ghat area is currently flooded because of the rising water level of the Yamuna River. Continuous heavy rainfall has also caused traffic congestion and slow vehicle movement on Mathura Road.

The Met Department is forecasting heavy rainfall across East, West, Central, Northeast, and Northwest India. Isolated locations in the Gujarat Region (September 4-6), Saurashtra & Kutch (September 6), Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra (September 7), Uttarakhand (September 3-9), Haryana and Chandigarh (September 4-9), West Rajasthan (September 5-8), and East Rajasthan (September 6) are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall. The situation in Punjab remains dire, with floods displacing thousands and resulting in approximately 30 fatalities.
