    Indore Municipal Corporation

    Highlights

Water tax will be increased from 200 to 300 rupees per month. Property tax will increase by 2 rupees per square feet. The city’s MLA is not in favor of this increase.

Naiduniya representative, Indore. Indore Municipal Corporation has prepared to increase property tax, water tax and garbage collection fee. These rates are going to change after 15 years. The current rate of water tax will be increased from Rs 200 to Rs 300 per month, while property tax is being increased by Rs 2 per square feet. A new formula is also being prepared for garbage collection fee. In the recent BJP core committee meeting, there was a discussion about changing the tax rates. However, Indore MLAs are against the increase.

Water tax rate will increase by Rs 100

At present, the Municipal Corporation is collecting Rs 200 per month as water tax. Now there are preparations to increase this tax to Rs 300. Indore Municipal Corporation is giving a reason behind this increase. The corporation is spending many times more money than the amount being collected for bringing Narmada water from Jalud to Indore.

The last change was made 15 years ago

The last change in water tax was made about 15 years ago. In these years, electricity and other expenses have increased. Similarly, property tax is to be increased by Rs 2 per square foot. This change is also being made after 15 years. Recently, the Municipal Corporation had increased the property tax by changing the rate zones of the colonies.

Preparations to tighten the reins on those living in multi-storey houses

The corporation is working on a new formula to increase the garbage collection fee. At present, many families living in multi-storey buildings do not pay the garbage collection fee. Preparations are being made to rein in such families. The corporation can increase the garbage collection fee from 10 percent to 100 percent.
