The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is initiating nationwide protests to demand access to its jailed leader, Imran Khan, amidst growing concerns over his well-being and circulating rumors of his alleged death in Adiala Jail. The party has officially requested a meeting with Khan by providing the Adiala Jail authorities with a list of six designated lawyers. Supporters across Pakistan are being called upon to gather outside the jail in a show of solidarity. PTI Members of Parliament are scheduled to hold a significant protest at the Islamabad High Court, while Imran Khan’s sisters, alongside other supporters, will demonstrate outside Adiala Jail. Security around the jail facility has been substantially enhanced. The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, a prominent PTI leader, has publicly expressed his inability to secure a meeting with Imran Khan, noting that 28 days have passed without any permitted contact. The PTI has indicated that failure to grant access and provide assurances could escalate to broader protests across the country. Social media platforms are rife with unsubstantiated claims regarding Khan’s death, including allegations of a plot involving Pakistani intelligence agencies.
