    State Bureau, Naiduniya, Bhopal: In Madhya Pradesh, the Chief Minister and Ministers will now pay the income tax on their salary and allowances themselves. Governor Mangubhai Patel has given permission to amend the Madhya Pradesh Minister’s Salary and Allowance Act passed by the Assembly. At the same time, the Assembly Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Leader of the Opposition will also pay their income tax themselves.

    Amendment bill will be introduced in the winter session

    For this, an amendment bill will be presented in the winter session of the assembly. In the budget session of the assembly, the government presented an amendment bill to delete section 9 (a) of the Madhya Pradesh Minister’s Salary and Allowance Act 1972. This section had a provision that the income tax levied on the salary-allowances and other emoluments of the Chief Minister and ministers will be paid by the government.

    Mohan Sarkar’s decision

    The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav had decided to change this system and deposit the income tax by oneself. After the amendment bill was passed unanimously in the assembly, it was sent for the Governor’s approval. The Law and Legislative Department has notified it as soon as the approval was received.

    Effective from July 1, 2024

    This provision has been made effective from July 1, 2024. Similarly, the Madhya Pradesh Cow Slaughter Prohibition Amendment Bill has also been approved. It has been provided that the collector will be able to confiscate vehicles involved in illegal transportation of cows. The accused will not be able to take delivery of the vehicle from the court before the action of the collector.
