India-ACC Clash Over Asia Cup Trophy: BCCI to File Complaint

The Asian Cricket Council meeting held on Tuesday, September 30, witnessed a significant clash between the BCCI and ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi. The central issue was the Asia Cup trophy, which India won by defeating Pakistan in the final. After the match, the Indian team declined to receive the trophy from Naqvi, who was present on the stage. Naqvi is reported to have then taken the trophy himself. At the ACC meeting, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla questioned Naqvi’s actions. The BCCI representatives maintained that the trophy belonged to them. Naqvi reportedly deflected direct questions. He initially refused to congratulate India, but was eventually pressured to do so. Despite the BCCI’s clear demand for the trophy’s return, Naqvi has not yet complied, leading to strong dissatisfaction. The BCCI will now lodge a formal complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to address the situation.
