Canada’s push for stronger ties with India’s energy sector took center stage as Energy Minister Tim Hodgson concluded high-level meetings with Ministers Piyush Goyal and HD Kumaraswamy in New Delhi. His visit aligns with India Energy Week (IEW) 2026, marking a pivotal moment in international collaboration.
Posting on X, Kumaraswamy highlighted the delegation’s focus on critical minerals, clean mobility, and advanced manufacturing partnerships. Under PM Modi’s guidance, India is crafting a strong industrial framework aligned with Viksit Bharat 2047 and net-zero targets, he noted.
The agenda included scrutinizing joint initiatives in electric vehicles, batteries, and sustainable chains, with officials emphasizing EV ecosystems and mineral cooperation.
Goyal’s social media update celebrated the interaction, covering energy security, renewables, critical resources, and growth strategies. He introduced Hodgson to the new Parliament building, a testament to India’s progressive ethos merging past and present.
PM Modi kicked off IEW 2026 virtually, praising the India-EU FTA’s role in fostering harmony between economic giants. He greeted participants, positioning India as a hotspot for energy innovations and IEW as a dynamic global platform.
Joining were Petroleum Minister Puri, UAE’s Al Jaber, Hodgson, and leaders from Africa, Middle East, Central Asia, and beyond. The event’s international draw from America to Asia-Pacific reflects its growing stature, expecting massive turnout from 120+ countries.
