The observance of Navratri, a festival honoring Maa Shakti, begins today. New Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates have been implemented nationwide, starting today. This is expected to lower the prices of many goods. The nation will now operate with two tax slabs, at 5% and 18%. A 40% tax will be applied to items deemed harmful, such as alcohol and tobacco. Before the new GST rates took effect, Prime Minister Modi spoke to the country on Sunday. He focused on GST reform and domestic products. He stated that with these new rates, 99% of goods will only be taxed at 5%. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organize a GST savings campaign throughout the country from September 22 to September 29. BJP MPs will participate in foot marches in their constituencies. Today, the Prime Minister will travel to Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura. Stay updated on breaking news from around the world by refreshing this page.
