The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has expressed its approval of the upcoming summit between the United States and Russia, scheduled for August 15 in Alaska, with the aim of addressing the conflict in Ukraine. The MEA suggests that this meeting could be instrumental in ending the conflict and initiating peace talks. The Ministry’s spokesperson stated that the summit offers hope for resolving the ongoing conflict and establishing peace. The spokesperson reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sentiment: ‘This is not an era of war.’ Accordingly, India is supporting the summit and is prepared to contribute to these endeavors. Former US President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to announce the meeting between himself and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting will occur in Alaska, with the primary goal of achieving a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. During the signing of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace accord at the White House, Trump signaled that progress was being made regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict, adding that a deal was close to being finalized, which would involve some adjustments in territories to benefit both sides.
