Marking a pivotal moment in bilateral diplomacy, PM Narendra Modi and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu conversed over phone on Wednesday, prioritizing the escalation of their strategic alliance and united front against terrorism.

Modi posted on X about the warm exchange, offering New Year felicitations and outlining talks on amplifying India-Israel cooperation. ‘Discussed regional situation and our collective determination to battle terrorism more vigorously,’ he noted.

Netanyahu praised the dialogue’s value, particularly on bolstering security frameworks. Stressing the solid foundations of their relationship, he pointed to untapped opportunities for mutual benefit and anticipated a personal summit with Modi shortly.

Contextualizing the call, it comes after EAM Jaishankar’s December engagements in Israel. He met Netanyahu to relay Modi’s wishes and advance partnerships in innovation, economy, human capital, links, and safety. A session with President Herzog assessed strategic progress and India’s regional peace commitment.

This follows a December 10 hotline discussion on Middle East affairs, where both leaders vowed zero tolerance to terror and alliance reinforcement. The PMO highlighted Modi’s endorsement of just peace processes and Gaza roadmap acceleration.

The India-Israel axis, forged through years of trust, now stands as a beacon of resilience. With synergies in defense, water management, startups, and counter-terrorism, these interactions herald expanded horizons, fostering security and development for both peoples in an uncertain geopolitical landscape.
