India to Compete Against Pakistan in International Sports, Including Asia Cup

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has indicated that India will compete with Pakistan in international sporting events. However, the Indian government maintains its policy of not hosting bilateral series with Pakistan. This decision is based on India’s ongoing concerns about cross-border terrorism. The Hockey Asia Cup 2025 in Rajgir, Bihar, could potentially see India and Pakistan teams facing off. The minister confirmed that Pakistani players will be granted visas. The Asia Cup is a key tournament, with the winner earning a spot in the 2026 Hockey World Cup. The competition will feature eight teams vying for the title. In addition, the National Sports Governance Bill is expected to be tabled during the Monsoon Session, which aims to strengthen the administrative and financial standards of National Sports Federations.
