Across India, intense rainfall is causing widespread disruption. The capital city of Delhi is particularly vulnerable as the Yamuna River’s water level has reached 207.48 meters, exceeding the danger level and nearing the record of 207.49 meters set in 1978, raising concerns.

More adverse weather is anticipated, with predictions of thunderstorms and rain for the current day. Cloudy conditions and moderate rainfall are expected on September 5th, with further thunderstorms and rain likely on the 6th and 7th. The 8th and 9th are predicted to have cloudy skies.

Echoes of the devastating floods of 1978 resonate with older Delhi residents, as they recall the Yamuna’s destructive power. Roads were flooded, and affluent areas were submerged, leading to widespread displacement.

Emergency shelters have been set up to assist residents of areas at risk, such as Majnu Ka Tila, Madanpur Khadar, and Badarpur. Authorities have moved people to safer locations and closed the iron railway bridge to traffic due to rising water levels.

**Uttar Pradesh Rainfall Forecast (Through September 7)**

Uttar Pradesh has been experiencing continuous rainfall, contributing to pleasant weather. The weather department forecasts that rainfall will continue until September 7th, with various districts likely to receive precipitation. Today, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in some areas of western and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Both western and eastern regions are expected to experience rain on September 5th. Light to moderate rain is predicted for western UP on September 6th and 7th, with only isolated showers likely in eastern UP.

    **Bihar and Jharkhand Weather Outlook**

Light rainfall may occur in certain districts of Bihar today. The weather department predicts light to moderate rain in 19 districts, including West Champaran, Siwan, Begusarai, Patna, Gaya, Aurangabad, and Kaimur, while the remaining 19 districts are expected to experience very light rain. Substantial rainfall is anticipated to begin on September 6th. Rain is affecting multiple areas of Jharkhand, including Ranchi. Heavy rainfall is expected in many locations by tomorrow. An orange alert is in place for the districts of West Singhbhum, Gumla, and Simdega.

**Rainfall in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan**

Heavy rainfall is forecasted for Madhya Pradesh over the next three days, leading to weather alerts. Several districts are at risk of experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall, including Dhar, Burhanpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Indore, Ratlam, Ujjain, Alirajpur, and Khargone. Rainfall is expected to persist in Rajasthan for the next two days, with a possible decrease in intensity afterward. Eastern Rajasthan will likely experience rainfall in all districts during this period, while western Rajasthan may experience a reduced impact.

    **Punjab Rainfall Alert**

The weather department has issued a renewed alert for rainfall in Punjab. Many districts are at risk of very heavy rainfall, leading to the issuance of a red alert. An orange alert is in effect for Pathankot and Gurdaspur districts, and a yellow alert has been issued for Jalandhar, Amritsar, Rupnagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Mohali, and Tarn Taran.

    **Mountain Region Weather Forecast**

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for rain in 13 districts of Uttarakhand today. Heavy rainfall is expected in several areas, despite the yellow alert in Nainital, Champawat, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. A yellow alert has also been issued for Uttarkashi, Tehri, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Dehradun, Haridwar, Almora, and Udham Singh Nagar. Some areas of Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Sirmaur in Himachal Pradesh are under a yellow alert for rain today, with rain also possible in other districts.
