India’s triumph over Pakistan in the Asia Cup was a momentous occasion, their ninth tournament win. However, the victory celebrations were unusual. The traditional post-match ceremony was postponed, causing uncertainty. Indian players, from Rinku Singh and Shubman Gill to Kuldeep Yadav and bowling coach Morne Morkel, had shared their excitement with the broadcasters and were ready to celebrate. Following the broadcast analysis by Sanjana Ganesan, Wasim Akram, and Ravi Shastri, the presentation was anticipated. Instead, India’s team was kept on the podium. After a delay, the presenter Simon Doull declared that India wouldn’t be receiving their trophy that night. Mohsin Naqvi, the ACC and PCB head, took the trophy, while the Indian team returned to their hotel without it, missing the moment of celebration they had earned.
